Chris Jericho addresses rumours of Dean Ambrose joining AEW after WWE exit - EXCLUSIVE
CHRIS JERICHO has NOT tried to convince Dean Ambrose to join All Elite Wrestling after his recent WWE departure but insists he would be a great fit for the newly-formed promotion.
WWE: Pundits discuss why Dean Ambrose is leaving the franchise
Ambrose left Vince McMahon’s company after his contract expired following rumours suggesting he was not happy with the booking he received or the direction of his character.
Speculation is rife over The Lunatic Fringe’s future as reports claim he may take a break from the gruelling schedule of professional wrestling or he could join Jericho at AEW.
However, Y2J hasn’t spoken to the ex-WWE Champion about possibly moving to the new company but if he wishes to cross over then he would be more than welcome.
The wrestling legend knows how it is when a wrestler feels burned out as he took a two-year hiatus from the sport in 2005.
I have not [contacted Ambrose]
The first ever Undisputed Champion hinted that maybe Ambrose just needs a much-deserved break from the business after his seven-year stint in WWE as the sport takes a huge physical and mental toll on the performers.
Jericho told Express Sport: “I have not [contacted Ambrose].
“Only Dean knows what Dean wants.
“It’s a grind, and not just the physical aspect of it but there’s a mental standpoint.
“It’s hard to work matches sometimes four days a week, five days a week.
“Sometimes you need a break from the business.
“I’m sure if he wants to come to AEW he’d be more than welcome.”
Jericho is certain Ambrose would make a great a addition to AEW if he decides to wrestle for the upcoming promotion.
The 48-year-old veteran is confident he would be as great as he was in WWE where he became a Grand Slam Champion.
The wrestling legend added: “Same way he did in WWE.
“He’s a star, he’s a great performer, he’s a great character.
“I think he would mix right in with those guys.
“When you get a great performer, it doesn’t matter what company they were before because they’re in a top level.”
