WWE news: Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes REVEAL awkward CM Punk story
CHRIS JERICHO and Cody Rhodes revealed an awkward story about how CM Punk once tried to assert himself as the leader of the WWE locker room.
Punk wrestled for Vince McMahon’s promotion from 2006 until 2014 and achieved legendary status as he won six world titles, beat some of the all-time best like John Cena, The Undertaker as well as Daniel Bryan and was part of some of the greatest rivalries in wrestling history.
However, Jericho and Rhodes claim The Straightedge Superstar may have gone a little too far at some point when he named himself as the leader of the locker room.
Y2J, the IWGP United States Champion and other WWE superstars as well as legends, though, didn’t recognise him as such and things got intense when he tried to display authority in front of WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.
The New Japan Pro-Wrestling stars claimed CM Punk tried to order the locker room to pick up their rubbish and the six-time world champion was so angry with that statement that he offloaded all of his trash to the floor in a sign of defiance.
He [CM Punk] said, 'As the locker room leader...
The IWGP Intercontinental Champion and Rhodes discussed that incident on the former’s podcast show Talk is Jericho during the Chris Jericho Cruise.
Jericho asked: "Cody, do you remember this weird locker room meeting in WWE once where CM Punk said that [he was the locker room leader]? Do you remember that?.”
The ex-Intercontinental Champion replied: ”I tried not to name names.”
But the six-time world champion replied: ”I’ll say it because it's my cruise.
“He [CM Punk] said, 'As the locker room leader...'
“I’m like, ‘You don't lead me’.”
Rhodes then revealed CM Punk’s awkward encounter with Booker T: “And it worked on a certain demo of the locker room.
"But there was one meeting where Booker T was in the room and Punk hit the 'As the locker room leader, I'm telling you guys all to pick up your trash’.
“And Booker literally threw his trash on the floor.
“‘He's not telling me to pick up my trash’ [said Booker T]. They had this whole interaction."
CM Punk left WWE four years ago immediately after the Royal Rumble and went on to pursue a career in UFC that saw him losing both his first two fights to Mickey Gall and Mike Jackson.
Jericho and Rhodes remember Kane as a proper locker room leader they looked up to and believe his leadership qualities played a big part in his successful political campaign that made him the Mayor of Knox County in Tennessee.
Cody said: ”Glenn [Jacobs, Kane’s real name) is the only actual locker room leader.
"Absolutely, he's the Mayor now.”
Jericho added: ”He is somebody that you would listen to because he's 6’9”, 350 lbs of muscle.
“If Kane tells me to pick up the trash, I’m picking up the trash.”
