Conor McGregor accused of running away from Khabib fight negotiations: He fell silent
CONOR MCGREGOR has been accused of backing away from negotiations to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov.
A fight between the pair is high on the UFC brass’ wish list following McGregor’s antics at the UFC 223 media day, where he attacked a bus carrying the new lightweight champion.
According to ‘The Eagle’, the UFC have approached McGregor and his team with the bout but the Irishman has shied away from talks.
“He talked a lot but for some reason, as soon as it came down to real negotiations about the fight, he fell silent,” Nurmagomedov told Sport24.ru.
Nurmagomedov is keen to get back inside the Octagon by October at the latest and is hoping for his first outing as lightweight champion to be against ‘The Notorious’.
He said: “I do not yet know who my opponent will be.
“The fight will likely take place in Las Vegas.
“I want to fight McGregor; the fans are also waiting for this fight.

“I hope that Conor wants this fight.”
Should ‘The Eagle’ land a fight with McGregor - which would bring him the biggest payday of his career - he’s promised to put an emphatic beating on Ireland’s first UFC belt holder.
“In what round will I be able to knock McGregor out?” he asked.
“I do not know, and no one can know this. I’m going to destroy him.”
McGregor, 29, hasn’t set foot inside the Octagon since becoming the UFC’s first simultaneous two-weight world champion at UFC 205, a card where he registered an emphatic second-round TKO victory over Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight crown.
Nurmagomedov - meanwhile - hasn’t fought since claiming the 155lbs title, which McGregor was stripped of, in the main event of UFC 223.
