UFC 225: CM Punk breaks silence after Mike Jackson loss and Dana White’s axing statement
UFC 225: CM PUNK has broken his silence following his second UFC defeat.
The former WWE superstar made his long-awaited return to the cage in the early hours of the morning at UFC 225, a card which took place in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois.
Punk, real name Philip Brooks, locked horns with Mike Jackson in his second MMA bout, his first since losing to Mickey Gall at UFC 203.
The Chicagoan’s homecoming didn’t go to plan as he suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Jackson, who showcased better striking and grappling from the get-go.
Punk was transported to hospital after his second consecutive loss to have a facial CT scan, meaning he didn’t attend the post-fight press conference.
The 39-year-old took to Twitter a few hours ago to reflect on his latest setback and was seemingly in high spirits.
“You win some, you lose some! I'm 1-1 this week and I'll take it!” he tweeted.
Thanks to my team, my family, my friends, and THE FANS! Wouldn't be here without any of you.

“Respect to @TheTruthJackson, thanks for the fight! You only live once, and... I'M ALIVE!”
Punk’s statement came a few hours after UFC president Dana White confirmed the promotion would part ways with the Chicago native.
“No, it should be a wrap,” White said during the UFC 225 post-fight press conference. “The guy’s 39 years old.
“We gave him two shots, and he had a lot of heart tonight, and I think he should call it a wrap.”
Although Punk’s striking and grappling were very cumbersome, White was thoroughly impressed by the immense heart he showed.
“He did (show heart), he did,” White added. “He got clipped a lot in that fight and it looked like he was hurt bad a couple of times.
“He stayed in there, he went for three rounds.”
