Conor McGregor defends UFC 223 media day melee
Conor McGregor has defended his actions in Friday's melee at the UFC 223 media day, to the promotion's president Dana White.
On Thursday evening, McGregor and his crew attacked a bus carrying fighters leaving the Barclays Arena in Brooklyn, including Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The incident led to the cancellation of three fights, including Artem Lobov's featherweight bout with Alex Caceres.
“Conor and I talked through text yesterday,” White said during an appearance on First Things First. “Obviously the worst conversation we’ve ever had. We talked yesterday before he turned himself in.
When asked if McGregor didn’t understand what happened, White added: “No I don’t believe he did.
“It’s not that I don’t think he understood what happened, he justified it. It was justified to him.
“(He said), ‘Listen, I’m sorry about Mike and I’m sorry about Rose and whoever else might’ve (been hurt), whatever. But this had to be done.”

Khabib Nurmagomodov's coach has launched a blistering attack on McGregor, claiming the Irishman needs to get his act together.
“Personally speaking, I think Conor has got a lot of demons he’s got to exorcise because of this,” Mendez told Express Sport.
“I don’t know where his head is going to be. And I don’t how the New York City Police Department is going to take this.
“I don’t think they are going to take this too kindly. I know I wouldn’t. I don’t think anybody in their right mind would take this too kindly.”

Conor McGregor could miss out on new deal
White has claimed that McGregor's antics could very well have cost him a new deal.
When asked if he thought McGregor would return to the promotion before Thursday’s antics, he said: “Oh absolutely.

“We were actually working on a new deal and a new plans for him. All this week.
“All this week were and then he shows up and this happens."
