Conor McGregor vs Floyd Mayweather 2 in the UFC could happen soon, says coach
A REMATCH between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather could very well take place inside the Octagon, according to the UFC lightweight champion's coach Owen Roddy.
Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather exchange words at the first Mayweather vs McGregor presser
Earlier this year, Mayweather hinted that he's willing to try his hand at mixed martial arts in a series of Instagram posts, which stunned the combat sports world.
His antics inevitably led to talk of a rematch with McGregor, who he beat in a boxing match last August.
The notion of Mayweather setting foot inside the Octagon for another multi-million-pound fight with McGregor has been rubbished by many, who believe the legendary boxer is just trying to keep himself relevant.
A potential MMA fight between Mayweather and McGregor would undoubtedly bring the pair lucrative paydays, a fact which has led Roddy to believe we could see them square off inside the cage.
"Honestly, I don't know," Roddy told Express Sport when discussing a potential MMA fight between McGregor and Mayweather.
"Because when the first Mayweather fight came about and was talked about didn't think it was going to happen. I couldn't see it happening.
"When Conor says he's going to do something, he does it.
"And because they're such icons, both of them, there's so much money involved that it could happen."
Mayweather seemingly pulled another U-turn on a potential fight inside the cage earlier this week, less than a month after he poured cold water on talking of him switching codes.

"I'm gonna start soon," Mayweather told TMZ when asked if he’d responded to UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley’s offer to help train for his MMA debut.
"We've been texting back and forth. We talked a couple times, so we gonna start working out real soon."
He added: “I’ll probably need a little bit longer (than three months). A little bit longer. Even if it takes six to eight months, whatever it takes.

“We just want to make sure everything is done correctly, and everything is done the right way.
“I can wrestle. My wrestling game is not that bad. On a scale from one to 10, I would say it’s probably a seven.
“We can take it up to a nine, if possible. Of course my hand game, on a scale of one to 10, it’s 100.
