Conor McGregor to be stripped of the lightweight title
Conor McGregor will be stripped of the UFC lightweight title, according to the promotion's president Dana White.
McGregor, 21-3, has yet to defend the 155lbs title, which he claimed 15 months ago in the main event of UFC 205.
“I said in the last press conference, that fight [Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov] will be for the title,” White told TMZ. “It’s not for the interim title, that fight is for the title.”
When told that decision would mean he’d have to strip McGregor of his belt, White added: “Right.“Conor understands. Listen, Conor made a lot of money, you know?
"He wants some time off, but the division has to go on. And the business goes on.”

Anderson Silva is adamant he didn't intentionally take the banned substances discovered in his system in his recent failed drug test.
“A lot of people are talking about that,” the Brazilian told TMZ. “But it’s difficult. It’s easy for doctors to talk about that.
“Sometimes the athlete using the different supplements, because the rules are not easy. It changes all the time.”

TJ Dillashaw has claimed he rejected a UFC 222 bout with Cody Garbrandt because he wasn't healthy.
“They just kinda wanted me to save the card, and unfortunately I wasn’t able to,” Dillashaw said during an appearance on The MMA Hour. "I’m dealing with some injuries that I was trying to keep quiet, but they kept hammering on me and hammering on me to take this fight. But I just wasn’t healthy.
