Paulie Malignaggi (36-7) won the IBF light-welterweight title in 2007 and later became the WBA welterweight champion.
Malignaggi’s two weight divisions are likely to be where Conor McGregor would compete were he to ditch UFC for boxing.
The Irish two-weight UFC champion has added fuel to the fire of rumours surrounding a potential mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather, claiming he could “conquer the boxing scene” after being granted a licence in California.

But Malignaggi reckons McGregor is still completely out of place in a boxing ring.
“I don’t know that Conor even knows how to adapt, because I’ve seen the sparring videos, and I’ve watched him moving in directions that he shouldn’t have been moving in and putting himself in positions that could be dangerous, where he doesn’t even know where he’s going,” he told MMA website Bloody Elbow.
“In his mind, he’s just moving around the ring.
“You may take a beating, but it’s worth it because of the money you’re doing it for.
“It’s going to totally destroy him.
“No matter who he boxes, it’s going to ruin his image."
