Conor McGregor weighs in at 170lbs for UFC 246 showdown with Donald Cerrone
Conor McGregor will make his return to the Octagon early on Sunday morning.
Conor McGregor has successfully weighed in for his UFC 246 showdown with Donald Cerrone. The former two-division champion will make his return to the Octagon early on Sunday morning in the main event of UFC 246 in Las Vegas.
The Irishman's clash with Cerrone surprisingly takes place in the promotion's welterweight division, which neither man are strangers to.
McGregor, 31, last fought at 170lbs in August 2016 for his rematch with Nate Diaz - which headlined UFC 202.
The Irishman, who last set foot inside the Octagon 15 months ago, tipped the scales at 168lbs for both his clashes with the youngest Diaz brother, whom many want him to have a trilogy fight with.
Given his more muscular physique, many expected the UFC's first simultaneous two-weight world champion to be closer to the 170lbs limit.

And the fighting pride of Dublin did indeed end up tipping the scale at 170lbs - the same weight Cerrone weighed just shy 40 minutes before he weighed in.
McGregor, Ireland's first UFC champion, revealed he was well under the welterweight limit less than week ago, telling ESPN’s Ariel Helwani: “I’m underweight right now. I’m underweight. I’d say [I’m weighing] 160lbs and a bit.”
He later added: “I know I could have [made Cerrone cut down to lightweight]. But I just don’t think he looks well at 155lbs. He does not look well at 155lbs. He’s a 170lb fighter.
When asked why he didn’t want Cerrone to endure a gruelling cut down to lightweight, McGregor asked: “Why would I want someone to suffer? don’t care. No. I beat him any bleedin’ way. I beat him at any weight. I beat him bleedin’, you know what I mean?
"I beat him if I have the flu. So I don’t need that. I just want to focus on my training and keep me sharp. You know, I don’t have to cut and then build and then cut. I’m happy where I’m at.”
