UFC: Jorge Masvidal says fight with Nate Diaz ‘will happen again’
Early on Sunday morning, the ‘Baddest Motherf***er in the Game’ will be crowned in the main event of UFC 244.
Vying for the BMF title at Madison Square Garden in New York will be none other than fan-favourites Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.
Masvidal vs Diaz is unquestionably the biggest fight the UFC brass have put together this year.
And as such, the pair are expected to receive the biggest paydays of their respective careers.
UFC 244 fight card and start time: Full Masvidal vs Diaz card details
Masvidal and Diaz will pocket well in excess of the £77,000 and the £193,000 they received for their last outings against Ben Askren and Anthony Pettis respectively.
The £77,000 Masvidal pocketed for his five-second knockout victory over Askren was the biggest guaranteed purse of his career.
The biggest payday of Diaz’s career, meanwhile, came in his UFC 202 rematch with Conor McGregor, which saw him pocket £1.5million.
Neither Diaz nor Masvidal are expected to make anywhere near that figure for their latest ventures into the Octagon, though it’s understood they stand to earn close to double their last purses.
What is the BMF title and why is The Rock presenting it at UFC 244?
Their purses will increase significantly when their respective cuts of pay-per-view points are factored in.
So it’s safe to say both men will leave New York City a lot richer than when they arrived on Monday.
