Conor McGregor head coach gives fresh update on UFC return, teases imminent announcement
Conor McGregor appears to be on the verge of returning to the UFC.
John Kavanagh has hinted an announcement over Conor McGregor's UFC return could be right around the corner.
Last week, the former two-division UFC champion revealed he plans to return to the Octagon on January 18.
Fan favourite Donald Cerrone is currently the front runner to welcome the Irishman back to the cage, with UFC president Dana White recently confirming the promotion are indeed trying to book the fight.
According to Kavanagh, both parties have agreed to the fight and an announcement could be made in a matter of days.
During an interview with ESPN's Ariel Helwani, he said: "Like Dana said, nothing is 100 per cent until all the contracts are signed.
"As far as I'm aware, all parties have agreed more or less in principle.
"There's maybe a little bit of kinks to be ironed out. Hopefully, an announcement is imminent."
Kavanagh is over the moon to see his most famous student back in full training, saying: "I'm just happy to see him back competing.

"He's in a great mindset. We're training away, we're chipping away.
"It's 11 weeks (away) now. Weigh-ins will be 11 weeks (away) (tomorrow). He's ticking away.
"I can't wait for the announcement so that we can just be full steam ahead. I'm sure it's going to be soon."
McGregor is planning to fight three times next year, with a showdown against the winner of Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson being the final contest of his three-fight plan.
The former featherweight and lightweight champion's renewed motivation has thrilled Kavanagh, though the SBG Ireland head coach is eager to see 31-year-old make good on his latest promise.
"He's very pumped up," Kavanagh said of McGregor. "I like how he's talking about it being a season.
"He has three fights in mind that he wants to do.
"The first one on January 18 and then April and then September. I haven't heard that type of structured talk from him in a long time. But let's do action, not words."
