Conor McGregor gives shock response when asked who he will fight after Khabib Nurmagomedov
CONOR MCGREGOR has staggeringly called out former middleweight champion Anderson Silva ahead of UFC 229.
McGregor was speaking on the Ariel Helwani show about his lightweight clash against Khabib Nurmagomedov.
When discussing his future plans for his fight career, he joked that he has 312 fights left in his career, and gave an indication as to when he will retire.
Before that, he sensationally claimed he wanted to fight light-heavyweight fighter Anderson Silva.
Silva, now 43 years-old, most recently fought at light-heavyweight against Derek Brunson.
Despite a weight difference of roughly 50lbs, McGregor jokingly stated he would love to fight the all-time-great.
“Where’s Anderson Silva at?” he asked.
“I’d love an Anderson Silva fight at some stage.
“Why not? I’m sure he’s hunting for a few quid at some stage.
“What’s the difference between him and Georges (Saint-Pierre)?
“I’m going to do fights that interest me, that would be a damn good knock.”
McGregor went on to say that the door is not closed on the Nate Diaz saga.
The Notorious fought twice against Diaz, with each taking home a win, but McGregor moved to lightweight to take on Eddie Alvarez, and then switched to boxing, meaning a trilogy has never happened.
Despite this, McGregor reassured fans that they will see that fight, at some point.
“Nate Diaz will always have a rematch off of me, he gave me a rematch, so I’ll give him a rematch,” he told Ariel Helwani.
“I don’t know if it will happen next, but no matter what happens, he will always have a rematch off me.
“We will complete that trilogy, no doubt about it.”
Nate Diaz takes on Dustin Poirier at UFC 230 on November 3, his first fight since his loss to McGregor in 2016.
