Roger Federer shout STOPS Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Kevin Anderson
ROGER FEDERER was dumped out of Wimbledon in the last eight - but that didn't stop him having an influence in the final.
Five games into Novak Djokovic's clash with Kevin Anderson, play suffered a minor hold-up when one fan had Centre Court in hysterics by shouting Federer's name.
With the big South African about to serve, a shout of 'come on Roger' pierced the silence on Centre.
Anderson stopped bouncing the ball and looked towards the stands before resuming his service action.
It was a start to forget for Anderson, the No.8 seed, who dropped the first set 6-2 after two Djokovic breaks of serve.
Anderson had treatment on an elbow between sets - only to then drop serve in the opening game of the second.
Djokovic, who reached the final after winning a five-set epic with Rafael Nadal, was praised for his early error-free showing.
BBC Sport pundit Tim Heman said: "Novak Djokovic playing the situation so well. In the middle of the sixth game and he's made one unforced error.
"He is making his opponent work hard."
While Boris Becker had concerns over a sluggish-looking Anderson, who just two days ago played the longest semi-final in Wimbledon history.
"You can see Kevin Anderson's footwork is a little slow, he still hasn't physically arrived at the match. Who can blame him?" Becker said.
