Roger Federer: Rafael Nadal reacts to being snubbed as No 1 Wimbledon seed
RAFAEL NADAL says he believes Roger Federer deserves to be the No 1 seed at Wimbledon.
Nadal rose to the top of the rankings when they were announced on Monday despite not playing since his success at the French Open.
Federer failed to defend his Halle Open title by losing in the final to Borna Coric, which surrendered crucial ATP points.
Despite his fall in the rankings, the Swiss star will still enter the Wimbledon draw tomorrow as the top seed.
That is because the All England Club has a special formula to work out who their top 32 players.
He deserves to be the number one seed for everything he has achieved here
But Nadal is not fussed about being pulled from top spot and says his arch-rival deserves the honour.
“Yes for winning so many times here and having so much success on grass,” Nadal said.
“He deserves to be the number one seed for everything he has achieved here.”
The Wimbledon draw takes place at 10 am on Friday and Nadal thinks it will be crucial to how far he can progress.
“I played very well on clay and it always helps,” he added.
“Then you have to consider the Wimbledon court that is very special and the draw is very important as well.
“It's a tournament where you never know how things go, even if I have good memories from last year.
“I lost (to Gilles Muller in the fourth round) but I was playing at a very good level.”
