Federer is the heavy favourite to win his ninth Wimbledon title when the competition gets underway on Monday.
The Swiss star will enter the tournament as the No 1 seed, despite dropping his world No 1 crown with defeat in the Halle Open final at the weekend.
Rafael Nadal is expected to be his closest challenger and the Spaniard admitted he will be watching the draw closely.
“I played very well on clay and it always helps,” Nadal said.
“Then you have to consider the Wimbledon court that is very special and the draw is very important as well.
“It's a tournament where you never know how things go, even if I have good memories from last year.
“I lost (to Gilles Muller in the fourth round) but I was playing at a very good level.”
