Roger Federer: The one big Wimbledon record that could fall
ROGER FEDERER could see a significant record fall at Wimbledon.
The Swiss legend had his 20-match winning streak on grass snapped by Borna Coric in the Halle Open final on Sunday.
Federer, who has 20 Grand Slams to his name, is aiming for his ninth success at SW19 with the tournament getting underway on July 2.
But the 36-year-old could see one of his records tumble.
Federer played in 65 Grand Slam tournaments in a row - a sequence that ended at the 2016 Australian Open.
As things stand, Feliciano Lopez is on level terms with Federer and equalled him at the French Open.
I actually thought I played maybe my best match of the week today
However, Lopez could surpass Federer where he will make his 66th Major appearance in a row.
Lopez, who played in Stuttgart, has pulled out of Eastbourne, but he is expected to compete at Wimbledon.
Although Federer fell short of a 10th Halle title, he feels he played his best tennis of the week in the final.
He said: “I actually thought I played maybe my best match of the week today. It just didn’t go my way.
Borna Coric stuns Roger Federer at Halle Open Final
"So, it’s a bit unfortunate there.
“But I’m definitely going to leave with my head high, thinking it’s been a good run.
“Credit to him to play really, really quality tennis at the very end of that first set and then in the third as well, he never really dropped his level and that was it.
"It was an unfortunate match for me but credit to Borna to really come out and play a tough match today.”
