Roger Federer makes incredible revelation about Benoit Paire win at Halle
ROGER FEDERER has revealed just how close he came to being knocked out by Benoit Paire at the Halle Open.
For Federer, Halle has been a home from home where he has already triumphed nine times.
The Swiss legend prevailed in a tough encounter against Paire in the second round, coming through in three sets and he took the final set on a tie-break.
The 36-year-old had to stave off two match points before booking his place in the quarter-finals.
And the world No 1 has explained just how close he came to leaving his favourite pre-Wimbledon grass tournament.
“At the end it was just extremely close,” he said.

Federer will now take on Australia’s Matthew Ebden for the first time in his career in the last eight later today.

Federer, who is 150 points ahead of Rafael Nadal in the world rankings, must win in Halle this weekend to consolidate top spot.
