Novak Djokovic explains early grass worries ahead of Queen’s clash with John Millman
NOVAK DJOKOVIC has explained how he used to worry about playing on grass during the early part of his career.
After winning his first Grand Slam in 2008, Djokovic had to wait three years until he mastered grass to win his maiden

But it never used to be plain sailing for the 31-year-old.
“At the beginning of my career I was thinking that grass just isn’t that surface for me,” Djokovic said.
“I thought that it just isn’t going to fit my game so well because I was not really comfortable coming in.
“Grass in a way demands you to come in and be aggressive and have good volleys and chips and so forth.
“I think the first few years of my professional career I was forced how to learn and winning
However, Djokovic has since completely changed his fortunes and he is now gunning for a success grass season.
“I love it now,” he added.
“The first day I already feel that I have adjusted to the surface. I am familiar with it.

“I think there are certain elements in my game that always needs some work on like serve, volley and coming into the net and grass is the perfect surface for those things to be worked on.
“I’ll try to play cat and mouse with the other player and try to low balls and coming in.
“It is completely different coming from clay to grass but I think this time with the extended week of schedule it is better for us.”
