Rafael Nadal record BROKEN by Denis Shapovalov at Madrid Open
DENIS SHAPOVALOV has broken one of Rafael Nadal's long-standing records at the Madrid Open.
Shapovalov is 19 years and 27 days old
Nadal was 19 years and 138 days old when he became the youngest semi-finalist at the tournament in 2005.
The Spaniard overcame Radek Stepanek in the quarters before seeing off Robby Ginepri in the semis.
Nadal then pulled off a stunning fightback in the final, coming from two sets down to beat Ivan Ljubicic in five sets.

But his record as the youngest semi-finalist ended on Friday when Shapovalov made history in Madrid.
The Canadian beat Kyle Edmund in three sets to become the youngest player to reach the last four at 19 years and 27 days old.
Shapovalov will become Canada's No.1 if he beats Alexander Zverev in the semis on Sunday night.
