The American won 6-1, 7-6 against Del Potro despite the Argentine having claimed 15 successive wins and Acapulco and Indian Wells titles going into their final four clash.
But world No 17 Isner produced an unstoppable performance to win inside an hour and 22 minutes in Florida, hitting 16 aces and winning 83 per-cent of points on his first serve.
He is into his fourth Masters 1000 final as he looks for a maiden title and will face the winner of the other semi-final between Alexander Zverev and Pablo Carreno Busta tonight (midnight).

Either way, it’s going to be a fantastic final. Either way I’m going to be up against a very tough opponent.
Speaking of his potential opponent, Isner told ATP World Tour: “I’ve never played Pablo.
“Maybe I’ve played him in doubles somewhere or something, I don’t know. But I know I haven’t played him in singles.
“I’ve played Sascha three times, I’m 0-3 against him. We played last year at this tournament and I had some match points and he beat me 7-6 in the third set.
