ROGER FEDERER has revealed he will try and use his calm head to beat Juan Martin del Potro to Indian Wells glory.
Roger Federer has opened up on his tactics for Juan Martin del Potro
Federer and Del Potro face off this evening with the BNP Paribas Open title on the line.
Both men go into the contest aiming to maintain their good early form in 2018.
Federer, though, is the favourite having scooped the Australian Open and Rotterdam Open titles so far this year.
He did, however, have to survive a huge scare when defeating Borna Coric in yesterday’s semi-final.
Coric took the first step but Roger Federer rallied to prevail to the final.
And he has now revealed the tactic he will use to beat Del Potro, admitting a calm head is key.
“When you are confident and experienced and you have that combination, there's no real need to panic,” he said.
“Because you can assess the situation quite easily. You're understanding that the opponent is playing better. It's breezy. It's hard to play offence.
"But you need to have a very positive mindset.

“You need to be match-tough, you need to be confident, have experience, and I think I have a bit of all of that right now.”
Federer also lauded Coric for his performance in yesterday's match.
"Borna played a great match. He was very steady," he said.
"I can see why he caused a lot of problems to a lot of players, and he's only going to improve from here."
