Sock, who is ranked in the top 10 in the world, reached the semi-finals of the BNP Paribas Open last year.
His season hasn’t got off to the best start and he took a month off after crashing out of the first round of the Australian Open.
The American warmed up for Indian Wells by playing Federer in the Match for Africa exhibition hosted by the Swiss legend’s charity.
And Sock thinks there are times when even Federer isn't always perfect and has his “lulls”.

There’s a few guys in the history of the sport like Roger [Federer] who also have a few lulls
When asked about the start to his season, Sock told the ATP World Tour: “Safe to say it hasn’t been the start I was hoping for. It is what it is. That’s tennis.
“There’s a few guys in the world in the history of the sport like Roger [Federer], Novak [Djokovic] and Andy [Murray] winning almost every week, but they have a few dips and lulls.
“It’s just part of the sport.
“For me, I’ve got to stay positive and take good things away from being out there.
