ATP World Tour Finals schedule Day 2: Rafael Nadal, Jamie Murray and Grigor Dimitrov play
RAFAEL NADAL will get the chance to show exactly how fit he is after a troublesome knee injury when he faces David Goffin at the ATP World Tour Finals today.
Rafael Nadal is the star man on Day 2 of the ATP World Tour Finals
The Spaniard secured the year-end world No 1 ranking, for which he picked up the trophy yesterday, two weeks ago at the Paris Masters but subsequently withdrew from the tournament.
The 31-year-old cited a knee problem and said he was not sure he would play in London, but now appears to have sufficiently recovered to take part in the tour’s end-of-year bash.
He will take on Goffin in his opening match, a man who has had his fair share of injuries in 2017, the first of three group matches with the top two finishers in each group going through to the semi-finals: Roger Federer, who beat Jack Sock yesterday, is expected to top the other group.
The ATP World Tour Finals is not just a singles event though and with Andy Murray missing through injury, it will be Jamie Murray who flies the flag for Britain this week.
Along with long-term playing partner Bruno Soares of Brazil, he will take on America’s legendary Bryan brothers on Monday.
And there is also a high-quality singles match on after the Brit's doubles encounter when Dominic Thiem and Grigor Dimitrov face off.
