Andy Murray planning Roger Federer defeat for THREE WEEKS - brother Jamie
ANDY MURRAY has been working for three weeks to prepare for Tuesday’s showdown with Roger Federer, says his brother Jamie.
Andy Murray faces Roger Federer on Tuesday
Andy Murray will face Roger Federer in a charity match in Glasgow tomorrow.
The match is set to get underway at 7.30pm at he SSE Hydro - the stage of numerous Great Britain Davis Cup ties.
Murray hasn’t played a competitive match since crashing out of Wimbledon in the summer.
Meanwhile, Federer arrives in Glasgow in top form having won the Swiss Indoors eight days ago.
But Jamie Murray reckons his brother will prove more than a match for world No 2 Federer.
Andy has been in the gym for a while with his team
“Andy has been in the gym for a while with his team, working to get back on the court,” he told the Telegraph.
“And in the last three weeks they’ve been hitting balls again and building up to playing in Glasgow.
“I think this has been the longest spell he has had off the tour in his career, so I’m sure he’s excited to be playing a match again.
“He is someone who loves to compete and this should be a chance for him to test his body out and see how he’s doing.”
Andy Murray has not played since Wimbledon
Murray ended 2016 as the world No 1 but a persistent hip injury forced him to take the latter half of this season off.
The two-time Wimbledon champion has not beaten Federer in any of their last five competitive meetings.
And Jamie confirmed Tuesday’s Andy Murray LIVE charity event will help his preparations for 2018.
“The plan has always been to come back in Australia at the start of the New Year,” he added.
