Elina Svitolina: 'Sincere apology' issued to tennis star after she posts frustrated tweet
ELINA SVITOLINA has been issued with a sincere apology after a mistranslation in an interview at the WTA Finals.

Svitolina, 23, spoke about the race to finish world no.1 this week - one in which SEVEN different players can win.

On it, she said: "Serena Williams was very consistent and that was No.1 for a long time. But at the same time, it's very Interesting for the competition that there are so many players able to be No.1.
"Serena dominated for a long time, but we are in a different time now."
It led to a tennis news website to tweet a link to an article, entitled: "Elina Svitolina: 'Serena Williams dominated, but we are in a different era'."

Caroline Wozniacki crushed Elina Svitolina on Monday
Although the tweet left Svitolina annoyed. She replied to it with two frustrated emojis while writing: "??? Definitely didn’t say anything about era."
It prompted an apology which read: "TennisWorldUSA would like to sincerely apologize with Elina Svitolina for the inaccurate translation of her words, which have led to a misleading interpretation of the article."
Svitolina lost 6-2 6-0 to Caroline Wozniacki in her opening round robin game.
The Ukrainian needs to beat Caroline Garcia to keep her semi-final dreams alive.
