Wimbledon 2016 winners
Defending champion Andy Murray won his second Wimbledon title last year after he defeated Canada’s Milos Raonic in the men’s singles finals.
The Scottish world No. 1 beat Raonic 6-4, 7-6, 7-6, in a gruelling match that went on for two hours and 48 minutes.
Murray famously gave a speech after losing his first Wimbledon final against this year’s favourite Roger Federer in 2012.
But a year later, he ended Britain’s 77-year wait for a male champion by wining his first Wimbledon Championships in 2013.
In 2016 US tennis legend Serena Williams beat Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the women’s tennis showdown, with a score of 7-5, 6-3.
The victory was Williams’ 7th Wimbledon title, her 9th win since turning 30 and her 22nd Grand Slam singles title overall.
