French Open 2017 draw: Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal opponents revealed
THE French Open draw has been made in Paris and Andy Murray knows his route to a second consecutive final.
French Open 2017 draw: Novak Djokovic beat Andy Murray in the final last year
Andy Murray came as close as he has ever come to winning the French Open last year when he reached the final and took the first set against Novak Djokovic.
However, he lost the next three sets to record his second consecutive Grand Slam final defeat to the Serb, having fallen at the final hurdle of the 2016 Australian Open.
And this year the Scot's first opponent will be Andrey Kuznetsov while Djokovic faces Marcel Granollers.
"It’s an amazing feeling to be back and look at this trophy that brings back memories from last year," Djokovic said at the draw.
"That was one of the most special feelings that I’ve experienced on the court, one of the highlights of my tennis career and I’ve had that good fortune to share those moments with the closest people in my life.
"The last couple of years I’ve created that special bond with Parisian and French people. I was coming to the final and falling at the final hurdle but last year that was a dream that came true."
Rafael Nadal meanwhile, having returned to a major final for the first time since 2014 when he lost to Roger Federer in Australia earlier this year, will hope to bag his 10th French Open title and faces Benoit Paire in the first round.
Andrey Kuznetsov will face Andy Murray in the first round of the French Open
But his Swiss rival will not play in Paris after the 35-year-old chose to dodge the tournament, traditionally his weakest, in order to preserve his body for the grass-court season.
Brit Dan Evans will face Tomy Robredo in the first round in his first ever French Open main draw while Kyle Edmund will play Portugal's Gastao Elias.
