Brit Johanna Konta books Australian Open quarter-final clash against Serena Williams
JOHANNA KONTA has cruised into the quarter-finals of the Australian Open.
Johanna Konta proved too strong for Ekaterina Makarova
The world number nine saw off the challenge of Ekaterina Makanrova in straight sets - 6-1, 6-4.
After an early break in the opening set, Konta looked comfortable.
The second set proved more of a battle, but she was strong on serve, with six aces coming off the frame of her racquet.

She wrapped up the match when Makanrova sprayed her forehand wide.
And Konta is relishing facing Williams in the last eight.
Speaking after her victory, she said: “Believe it or not that's a an incredible experience for me.
"She's one of the few players still playing who I watched growing up.

“As a young girl wanting to be a professional tennis player, it's an incredible honour and I can't wait to play on court with her.
"Once out in court, against anyone, anyone is out there to compete. Hopefully I'll come off as the winner.
