Emma Raducanu celebrated her new team-up with Sir Andy Murray in style as she "took care of business" and stormed her way into the third round at Wimbledon.

The British No.3 had the crowd along with Romeo Beckham, 21, behind her all the way on No.1 Court as she swept aside Belgian Elise Mertens, 28, 6-1 6-2.

She was full of smiles as she revealed to fans how she was thrilled to have reached the third round since her run to the US Open title in 2021.

Raducanu will have Thursday off as her third-round match is scheduled for Friday. But she will not being going out of her way to vote in the General Election.

On being asked if she would be voting, Emma said: "No (smiling). I think I'll have a lie-in, then I'll come to practice. I didn't even know it was tomorrow, to be honest. Thanks for letting me know (smiling)."

And on the celebrity backing she has, Raducanu added: "It makes me feel unbelievable. I feel so welcome here and obviously Centre Court one is my favourite court.

"I think I played some really good tennis. I’m over the moon to be playing and just to extend my stay but I want more days. With the roof closed it was super loud and I’m really grateful and appreciative for everyone making a lot of noise.

"I think the most important thing is focusing on myself. I took care of my business and what I needed to do. I think staying in the zone, your own little world creating that environment is the most important thing and serving out a match like that."

On being asked about having Romeo Beckham there to support her, she said: "I think he's, yeah, really cool. His dad is someone that I think every athlete looks up to, especially every British athlete. What he's kind of gone through with the media, with his career, with the pressure moments. Having David in my first round at the front, he was there from the start, at first point, even when the crowd was pretty empty.

"I have utmost respect for him. I think he's just amazing for British sport in general."
