Roger Federer will once again headline his home event next week but Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will not be in attendance.
Roger Federer reveals he wants to compete in 2020 Olympics
Roger Federer will start his Swiss Indoors title defence next week as four of the top 10 players in the world travel to Basel.
However, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will not be in attendance at the ATP 500 event.
The pair will instead compete in a charity exhibition match in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, October 24.
Nadal last competed at the Swiss Indoors in 2015 where he lost out to Federer in the final.
The Spaniard is also set to get married in his home town of Majorca tomorrow.
Djokovic has not participated in the event since 2011.The path is clear for Federer as he looks to win the title in his home country for a record-extending 10th time.
The world No 3 beat Marius Copil in last year’s final and has won the tournament in four of the last five years.
However, he could potentially meet second seed Alexander Zverev in this year’s final, which will be a slight worry as he lost to the young German in Shanghai last week.
Another rising star, Stefanos Tsitsipas, will be the third seed and could be placed in the same half of the draw as Federer.
As could world No 10 Roberto Bautista Agut, but he has failed to beat Federer in all 10 of his previous attempts.
A 24-man entry list has been put together by the Swiss Indoors which also includes the likes of Stan Wawrinka, David Goffin, Fabio Fognini and Marin Cilic.
There will also be eight qualifiers added to the draw.
