Andy Murray fires cheeky Nick Kyrgios shot before Washington Open clash with brother Jamie
ANDY MURRAY has light-heartedly fired a shot at good friend Nick Kyrgios ahead of his Washington Open second-round doubles match.
Murray has always clicked with the controversial Kyrgios and the pair practiced together during the Brit’s recovery from hip resurfacing surgery earlier this year.
Off the court, they are often captured bantering and entertaining the fans that wait around to see them.
Kyrgios jokingly booed Murray when the three-time Grand Slam winner accidentally interrupted his signing session last week.
And Murray has tried to get one back on social media.
The ATP Tour posted a video of Kyrgios ferociously serving during practice with the caption: “Think you could return @k1ngkyrg1os’s serve? #CitiOpen.”
Murray was quick to reply with “yes” - poking fun at his 5-1 record over the Australian.
Meanwhile, the Murray brothers are in second round doubles action in Washington tonight.
They take on No 3 seeds Michael Venus and Raven Klassen, two days after knocking out Wimbledon finalists Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin.
Speaking after the opening victory, Andy Murray said: “It was a good atmosphere.
“It felt like there were some good points and quick reactions out there.
“I’m in a much better place than I was last year.
“Physically, I’m so much better now. To be competing again and pain-free is brilliant.”
Murray is still working his way back to full fitness.
The 32-year-old has hinted he could return to singles action at the Cincinnati Open in a fortnight.
If he comes through that gruelling campaign pain-free then the US Open singles draw is a real possibility.
