Rafael Nadal’s BRUTAL three-word ending to press conference
RAFAEL NADAL ended his Monte Carlo Masters campaign with three brutal words last weekend.
Monte Carlo Masters: Rafael Nadal discusses semi-final loss
Nadal was expected to win his 12th Monte Carlo Masters title but fell at the semi-final stage to eventual winner Fabio Fognini.
A straight-sets defeat had the world No 2 bitterly disappointed.
And Nadal did not try to hide it from the media as he claimed it was one of the worst performances of his career.
The 32-year-old was tetchy throughout his media interrogation and abruptly ended the interview after just six questions.
Nadal was asked: “Would it be easy or hard to go back on practice court tomorrow morning?”
But the Spaniard was not in the mood to stick around for any more.
“Hard. That's all.” He replied to end the press conference.
Nadal was beaten 6-4, 6-2 by Fognini on Saturday - but it could have been much worse.
The Italian almost finished the second set with a bagel and Nadal admitted he gave up mentally.
“[I was] just waiting for the end of the match, because I tried until that moment,” he said.
“I tried in the 3-0, I tried in the 4-0, but then with the 5-0, 30-Love, is over, or 40-Love, it's over.
“Yeah, I was lucky to win that two games and to avoid the even worse score.
“But the final result is the same, so don't make a big difference.
“I was not thinking much. Just thinking about how bad I played today and just to, at some point, understand the things.”
Nadal returns to action when he taken on Leonardo Mayer at the Barcelona Open tomorrow.
