Federer made the final in Florida after coming through three difficult opponents.
Daniil Medvedev, Kevin Anderson and Denis Shapovalov were swept aside on the hard court, with Federer dropping just one set in those games.
The Swiss maestro does face an in-form Isner, who is seeking to defend his Miami Open crown.
Depite being on home turf, the Texan will likely have the inferior following at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Isner had a slightly easier route to the final but has nevertheless impressed in his surge, and remains confident of denying Federer the opportunity to win his fourth title in Miami.
“I believe personally that I can win any tournament I enter,” he said ahead of the final.
“[That’s] because of how disruptive I can be and because of how well I can serve at times.
“I’m not surprised that I’m sitting here back in the final again.”

Isner and Federer have met seven times before on the circuit, with the latter claiming five wins.
Federer has also won the only two outdoor hard games between the pair, which will give him confidence ahead of Sunday’s showdown.
Isner’s serve is the one aspect of his game he certainly holds over Federer, however, and the 6ft 10in athlete has his opponent worried about it.
“He’s definitely got one of the serves that you basically can’t read. It’s that simple,” Federer admitted.
