The American worked with the 14-time Grand Slam champion briefly but their differences in opinions led to a split.
And Agassi claims Djokovic never really gave him a chance.
The Serbian takes on Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open fourth round this morning.
Agassi explained: “It's difficult to get in the other person's mind.
“I was hoping to bring something, but you need two people and it took a process.”
Agassi had also had his say on who he would like to win the Australian Open.
And although he expects Djokovic to win in Melbourne, the American was hoping Grigor Dimitrov would go far.
He explained: “Well, my hope is that Grigor Dimitrov has something to say.
“For history if Novak is in his best shape he can dominate again.
“He loves playing here and he feels comfortable in the tournament so he is obviously the favourite.
“But on court there are always two players, you have to fight, show your abilities, get results in the matches.”
Agassi feel Dimitrov has untapped potential and can lead a new generation of players.

He added on Dimitrov: “He is a Ferrari, he has a very big talent: he is able to attack, defend and mix the two things.
“He has a lot of confidence in himself and it makes him great.”
If Djokovic wins he will face Kei Nishikori or Pablo Carreno Busta in the quarter-finals.
