Roger Federer: Alexander Zverev puzzled about THIS ahead of ATP semi-final clash
ALEXANDER ZVEREV is puzzled about one thing ahead of his semi-final clash at the ATP Finals against Roger Federer.
Zverev booked his place in the last four of the competition at London’s O2 Arena with a 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 victory over John Isner.
As of yet, Zverev - who is the youngest player left in the tournament - has yet to make his mark in the Grand Slams.
However, it is in the Masters 1000 series where he has made a real name for himself and he will be hoping to add another big title to his collection, although Federer - who has hit some form after his surprise defeat to Kei Nishikori in the round robin stages - stands in his way.
Zverev has been questioned over his forehand and whether or not it really is a weapon, but the 21-year-old has defended the effectiveness of his groundstroke.
“All of you guys keep thinking that my forehand is absolute crap,” Zverev said.
“I don't know why. I think my forehand is a very good shot actually.”
Isner failed to conceal his disappointment after his defeat to Zverev,
He said: “It didn't go as planned.
All of you guys keep thinking that my forehand is absolute crap
"You make this tournament, you want to do a little bit better.
"But at the same time this is no normal event. You're up against the absolute best in the world.
"Certainly I just came up short against players that were better than me this week. So I gave it my all.
"I mean, there's definitely some things I could have done better. I didn't come into this tournament with that much momentum.
“I think that maybe showed.”
In the other semi-final clash, world No 1 Novak Djokovic will face South Africa’s Kevin Anderson.
