Paris Masters: Khachanov reflects on beating Djokovic in final
Djokovic, who knocked Roger Federer out of the semi-finals, went down with a whimper as he lost 7-5, 6-4.
The Serbian was far from his best and admitted he was ill during the trophy presentation.
However, when quizzed on the illness further in his post-match press conference, Djokovic refused to go into detail about his problem.
The 31-year-old, who is thought to be suffering with the flu, did not want to take any of the limelight away from Khachanov.
“I do not want to talk about that,” Djokovic said when asked about his health.
“I want to talk about how he (Khachanov) played all week, because he deserved to win this game today.
“He is a young player on the rise, already installed at the highest level.
“He showed a great quality of tennis. I think we will see a lot Karen in the future.”

“What can I ask for more? I won more than 20 games in a row.
“These past five months have been the most fantastic.
“I’m going to get to the Masters with a lot of confidence, having confidence in my game.
“I think everything will be fine physically, in a week, to start in London.”
