Roger Federer opponent Daniil Medvedev makes worrying claim before Swiss Indoors clash
DANIIL MEDVEDEV has revealed how he is really shaping up ahead of his clash with Roger Federer at the Swiss Indoors.
Medvedev set up a semi-final meeting with Federer after coming through a gruelling three-setter with Stefanos Tsitsipas - 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Federer was taken the distance once again before prevailing in three sets to keep him on course for a ninth title in his hometown of Basel.
Medvedev’s match finished late, however his hard court record makes for excellent reading - 37 wins which puts him level with Juan Martin del Potro.
Medvedev claimed his maiden ATP World Tour 500-level trophy in Tokyo, Japan and he is looking to add more titles to his collection.
I hope it will be like this and I will try and take my chance
While accepting Federer hasn’t been at his best, Medvedev admits he is feeling shattered after his recent schedule.
“I mean honestly I’m totally dead right now!” Medvedev said.
“I’ve played so many tournaments in a row.
“But I need to give myself the best chances to beat Roger in his hometown.
“He was not playing like he usually does so far.
“I hope it will be like this and I will try and take my chance.”
Federer, however, is raring to go as he aims to lift his 99th ATP Tour crown.
