Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic US Open prediction made by Chris Evert
ROGER FEDERER, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic’s chances of winning the US Open have been analysed by Chris Evert.
Djokovic has been installed as the early favourite by the bookmakers following his success at Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Masters.
World No 1 Nadal is in the opposite half of the draw and is slightly longer odds, despite winning the Rogers Cup earlier this month.
Federer has been out of form recently and is the third favourite to pick up the 21st Grand Slam title of his career.
But Evert, an 18-time Grand Slam winner, thinks Nadal will be victorious in New York - although she is glad to see all three of them still challenging for the top honours.
“I want to throw a coin up for all three of those; Roger, Rafa, Djokovic,” Evert told Omnisport.
“I think one of those three are going to come out the winner.
“I am happy to see Novak playing better because I think he has had a rough year, both personally and professionally.
“He has had injuries, surgeries. Roger is Roger - he is capable of anything.
“And Nadal is a grinder. He is the hardest worker out there and it is going to be hard to pick a winner between those three.
“They are three of the greatest players that ever lived and they have set a high standard from everybody.
“But I think one of those a=will definitely come out.
“If I was to favour somebody I think I would slightly favour Nadal.”
Nadal has been handed the most favourable draw with Federer and Djokovic in the opposite half.
