Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to play TWICE today: Cincinnati schedule chaos
ROGER FEDERER and Novak Djokovic could be set to play twice today after a deluge of rain last night pushed back scheduling at the Cincinnati Masters.
Federer: It's exciting times now that the best players are back
The Cincinnati Masters faces a schedule headache today after the order of play was heavily delayed due to rain last night.
Only three ties on the men side of the draw was completed with Novak Djokovic unable to finish his clash with Grigor Dimitrov.
The Serbian was a break up in the final set against Dimitrov before rain halted play.
The adverse weather also meant Roger Federer was unable to get on the court for his round of 16 match with Leonardo Mayer.
It means both players could be set to play twice today with the quarter-final matches scheduled to take place in the early hours of the morning.
Djokovic is scheduled to restart his match against Dimitrov on center court following Simona Halep’s third round tie against Ashleigh Barty.
And if he progresses to the quarter-final then he is scheduled to face Milos Raonic just two games later.
Federer is currently scheduled to play his third round match following the conclusion of Djokovic and Dimitrov’s tie.
The 37-year-old will then need a swift turnaround as well as he will face the winner of Marton Fucsovics or Stan Wawrinka in the quarter-final.
Weather forecasts for Cincinnati predict a strong chance of rain again this evening with thunderstorms expected throughout the day.
