GREIG LAIDLAW has backed Scotland to solve the puzzle of the Stade de France after proving to him they can problem-solve last weekend.

The Scotland captain feared there could be a repeat of the devastating late losses his side twice suffered against Australia over the past 18 months when Ireland came back at them on Saturday.
But Laidlaw was encouraged to see his team figure out their flaws before coming up with the right answer that saw them claim a stirring 27-22 win and believes the knowledge sets them up for a first win in Paris for 18 years on Sunday.

“Where I feel the team has made massive strides is being able to dig ourselves out of a hole,” said the Gloucester scrum-half.
“After allowing Ireland to come back at us, we managed to get field positions and eventually see out the win, so it’s pleasing to know we can perform in these situations.
“We need everything we had from the Ireland game and take that forward into the French game.”
