Argentina aim to use David Pocock's Australia return to their advantage ahead of World Cup
ARGENTINA intend to use the return of Australian danger man David Pocock to their advantage if he passes a fitness test on a calf injury today.
Argentina aim to use the return of Australia's David Pocock to their advantage
Pocock, who has missed the Wallabies’ last two games after taking England to the cleaners at the breakdown, has not yet trained fully this week. But if he comes through intact this morning Australian coach Michael Cheika will put him straight back into his starting line-up for Sunday’s semifinal.
Pocock’s return, as part of a lethal poaching double act with Michael Hooper, would appear to spell trouble for the Pumas but the underdogs believe it could also represent an opportunity for one of the strongest setpiece packs in world rugby.
“I think he’s an amazing player – his work rate around the field and at the breakdown specifically,” said Argentina scrum coach Emiliano Bergamaschi, the former Bristol prop.
