Scotland 30 - 29 Italy: Greig Laidlaw hails new caps
GREIG Laidlaw paid tribute to Scotland’s young stars after he kicked a last-gasp conversion to clinch victory in the last match of their South African tour.
Alasdair Strokosch crossed the line with the final play of the match to put the Scots within a point and the skipper kept his cool to kick the decisive extras.
Matt Scott and Sean Lamont also touched down for the Scots, who had lost their previous two games of the tour against Samoa and South Africa. Victory over Italy handed them third place in the four-team tournament.
Laidlaw said: “The new caps were absolutely brilliant. They were outstanding, every one of them.”
South Africa won the tournament by beating Samoa 56-23.
