Saracens to play 'home' games in Belgium and South Africa next season
SARACENS will play ‘home’ games in Belgium and South Africa next season while they wait for their new stadium at Barnet to be completed.
The overseas fixtures, which will be confirmed next month, will be either Heineken Cup or LV= Cup games. It follows the abortive attempt to stage a European tie against Biarritz in Cape Town last season .
Saracens will also stage one of their Heineken Cup games in the heart of London – almost certainly the Honourable Artillery Company’s ground, where they played Connacht in a pre-season friendly last season.
We are really excited about an innovative schedule
“We are really excited about an innovative schedule that includes a number of spectacular and unique events, ” said director of rugby Mark McCall.
Sarries will use five different venues for their home Premiership ties: Twickenham, Wembley, Milton Keynes, Watford and Barnet, where they expect to play their first game on February 16.
London Welsh have signed full-back Tom Arscott from Worcester.
