Lyu is currently battling with Barry Hawkins for a place in the third round of the tournament.
Their clash got back underway at the Crucible in Sheffield after Hawkins took a 9-7 overnight lead into Saturday.
But Lyu flukes his way back into the match with a stroke of luck to make it 9-9.
Hawkins thought he had his man on the ropes, having planted the cue ball on the bottom cushion with no reds on.
Lyu managed to get a hefty backspin on his shot into the pack, with the intention of pulling the white well away from danger.

But the connected red flew up the table, off the top cushion and nestled into the bottom right pocket.
Lyu immediately apologised to Hawkins, who had already stood up from his seat to respond.
The draw drew gasps from the crowd and triggered a break from Lyu that would eventually win him the frame.
But not after another stroke of good fortune when the cue ball tickled the jaws of the middle right pocket as he sunk a black!
Hawkins eventually beat Lyu 13-10 to progress to the third round.
