Adam Peaty breaks another record in 100m breaststroke gold at World Championships
ADAM PEATY retained his 2015 World Championship gold in the 100m breastroke today with a time of 57.47.
Adam Peaty's time of 57.47 was a new championship record
The Olympic champion obliterated the rest of the field with American Kevin Cordes more than a second further back with a time of 58.79 while Kirill Prigoda claimed bronze at 59.05.
Peaty's time was just 0.34 seconds shy of his world record from last year's Olympics in Rio.
The 22-year-old will now turn his attentions to defending his 50m World Championship title.
Peaty has spoken previously of his goal to break the 57-second barrier mark in the 100m breast and another gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
He has already clocked a time of 56.59 in winning silver in the medley relay at Rio, but relay takeovers result in faster times.
