Snooker: Mitchell Travis' shock win against Marco Fu
AMATEUR Mitchell Travis beat world No 6 Marco Fu 6-5 in one of the biggest shocks in the history of the williamhill.com UK Championship.
The 21-year-old from Sheffield came back from one down with two to play at York Barbican Centre to beat Fu, the Australian Open champion.
Travis said: “I came here with nothing to lose and just didn’t want to make myself look like an idiot. My dad and my grandad taught me how to play from three years old, and they were in the crowd.”
Hong Kong’s Fu, 35, said: “That has to be one of the worst defeats of my career. I didn’t expect that one."
