David Haye defeated by Klitschko
BOXER David Haye slipped to defeat in his heavyweight prize fight last night.
He lost a unanimous points decision after taking Ukrainian rival Wladimir Klitschko, 35, to 12 rounds in a rain-sodden stadium in Germany.
In a series of tasteless stunts Haye, 30, had vowed to send Klitschko to hospital but failed to live up to his hype, landing just 57 punches compared to Klitschko’s 99.
The south Londoner was knocked to the canvas once and slipped several times.
He praised 35-year-old Klitschko as “a great fighter” but said he had broken a toe in training.
