BBC snooker fans blast 'shambles' coverage and ask 'what am I paying my licence fee for'
Those tuning into the BBC's World Snooker Championship coverage were left bitterly disappointed.
Snooker fans were left furious with the BBC after Judd Trump’s clash with Hossein Vafaei went off air during a crucial moment in the deciding frame. The two played out an epic in the second round, with the lead changing hands on several occasions.
In the end, it was Vafaei who edged the contest, having won the final two frames to come from 12-11 down and book a spot in the quarter-final. However, those watching the BBC’s coverage would’ve been left scrambling about with the TV remote, given the BBC2 broadcast cut midway through the match.
It left fans furious with the Beeb, as many took to social media to voice their concern. @ajames_cameron wrote on X: “The @BBC coverage of the world championship snooker is appalling. Trump vs Hossein going to a deciding 25th frame and they take it off BBC2. Yes, it’s on iPlayer live but just keep the final frame on a mainstream channel.”
@Mr_Pink13 added: “I cannot understand the BBC pulling a final frame decider from the snooker and it not being anywhere else that's obvious. I had to go to the iPlayer and rewatch the end to see they moved it to BBC4. It's not on the programme guide or the iPlayer. Shambles.”
@OCALLAGH remarked: “Thx. I found it on iplayer searching ‘snooker’ it’s not there via menus. You’re right, absolutely shocking coverage, the website is appalling too. They don’t deserve the rights to broadcasting this and pretend snooker doesn’t exist for the rest of the year.”

Meanwhile, @Interactions247 said: “Yeah cheers BBC great coverage of the snooker I was watching it and you just turned it off, You said it was on BBC4 but it's not there it's just an art programme, What the **** am I paying my licence for?”
And @lukewarm wrote: “What a mess you made on iPlayer trying to watch the snooker between Trump and Hussein and you take it off at 12-12.”
While some fans might’ve missed out on witnessing Vafaei’s thrilling victory, Trump lambasted the missed opportunities during his post-match debrief. He reflected: "Yeah disappointing session tonight.
"Apart from 11-10 down when I got going again. Had a great chance in the last frame as well, just run out of position straight away, just sums up my season really."
