Cycling: Mark Cavendish fails to finish Geelong road race
MARK Cavendish predicted he could not win the UCI Road World Championships and he was proved right yesterday as he failed to even finish the course in Australia.
Victory went to Norway’s Thor Hushovd in the 257.2km race from Melbourne to Geelong.
Of the event’s 178 starters, 79 failed to finish including Cavendish’s team-mates David Millar, who was second in the time-trial, and Jeremy Hunt.
