Bradley Wiggins' Tour de France plan spoiled by rain
BRADLEY WIGGINS’ Tour de France plans could not take into account one thing – the weather.
Just as Wiggins left the starting ramp for the Prologue yesterday, so the rain started to fall heavily and the five-mile circuit around Rotterdam took on a threatening sheen.
It was a disappointing start for Wiggins, who finished 46 seconds down on the early leader, Germany’s Tony Martin. Wiggins had opted to ride early in the day after Team Sky’s boffins predicted the worst of the rain later.
Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas, Britain’s new road race champ, posted an excellent 10.23.
